The final countdown - two and a half weeks to go

We picked up a new 'point and shoot' camera for me yesterday - the old one gave up the ghost. So here are the first shots from it.




Our Phil and Teds buggy...very cool.


The Moses basket complete with hand-sewn white liner. The cot doesn't come until the end of June so baby will be sleeping in this for a while to start with.
A beautiful hand quilted and appliqued playmat lovingly made by my stepmum (Thanks Jan, it's gorgeous!)
Red, black and white mobile (made by me) - apparently these are the colours and shapes that babies find easiest to focus on when they are newborn.
A small selection of the clothes that baby has already been given...many thanks to Mum, Mark and Nikki, Julia and Marianne for their kind gifts. Baby now has around 40 outfits...that's much more than I have!
Wow, I can't believe it's been two weeks since I last posted. Time is flying, I thought the last few weeks before baby came would drag...but it's certainly not.

I've been really living the 'lady of leisure' life while I still can. I've made friends with a lovely group of pregnant ladies who are all due within a week or two of me. We've been having lots of long relaxed lunches and it's been great to get to know them. Here's a shot of a few of the girls at Gemma's baby shower.

The nesting instinct definitely kicked in - I have hand sewn a moses basket lining (see photo) for the moses basket that a friend lent us. I've never sewn anything in my life. I also handmade the red, black and white mobile...not to mention cleaning out and reorganising every cupboard in the house!

Bet you can't wait for the big day - or maybe the couple of hours after the big event... I like the shot of the mobile in particular - very arty... Best wishes for the big day!

#plasticfreejuly I got my first Buckybox from Homegrown this week, the fruit and veggies are so fresh and delicious, I've just hopped online to repeat my order weekly. It's all delivered in a wooden crate, with things like mushrooms and yams packaged in paper bags. I also ordered the baby spinach and it looks like it's in a compostable bag, I'll need to check that one. The Haze

Well, I kno w I only posted this morning, but I've just found out more about the smoke. It's from southern Sumatra in Indonesia and it affects not only Singapore, but also Malaysia. The air pollution level is measured every three hours. Any measurement up to 100 is considered safe. Today's measurements have fluctuated between 100 and 150 - not good. Worst of all, it appears that a lot of the particles are small enough to get through the air con, yikes. Oh well, sounds like it's not too dangerous - I'll just have to get used to having itchy eyes. We bought a photo printer today, finally we'll get around to printing some of our wedding photos. Not bad, only a year and a half late! We witnessed what is quite a common event here in Singapore this afternoon. However, I realise that it's not really that usual anywhere else. We were at Funan - The IT Mall and there was a shop-opening event. This consisted, as all do in Singapore, of a drinks party, several talls st...

Plastic on the beach

Fabulous beach walk in the winter sunshine today, but so disappointing to come home with two full carrier bags full of plastic rubbish from the beach. Next time I'll take a grabber tool and more bags. We definitely left the beach in a better state than we found it.
