Brynn holding court

Brynn found a new bevvy of admirers at the playground this afternoon.

Hard at play

The queue went much quicker than I expected earlier, now I have all three at home plus two friends over. They are all very hard at play... It's amazing what some toy rearrangement can inspire in the small people. Those bricks have not seen light of day for months, today I got them out for Brynn and now they are the hottest toy in the playroom. Happy days.

Shopping the day before Chinese new year. 8.30am

Nightmare. Even after 8 years here, I'm still amazed how busy this supermarket is the day before cny holiday. I reckon I'll be queuing for half an hour!

Standing in the bath

It's a risky business, he very frequently finds himself flat on his back quite quickly.

Birthday tea and cake

All ready to share with my birthday buddy this afternoon.

Family bathtime

Happy days. They all seem to love it. I'm feeling so blessed to have three gorgeous kids.

My birthday present from Paul

I'm very happy with my new Nook. I'm starting by reading 'long road to freedom' alongside 'pride and prejudice'. It's super lightweight and very comfortable to hold. I love it. What a great little bit of kit, I'm so impressed with the e-ink, it's very easy on the eyes.

Free time

So after two years of serving on the management council of my condo, my term came to an end yesterday. It's been a frustrating year, however I did manage to implement a fully democratic system into a council that had historically been run as a dictatorship. We were overwhelmed with the turnout at the AGM, there had also been some studious proxy harvesting, meaning that all of the outgoing council's suggestions for management fund increases etc (in line with the rising cost of services) were voted down. This means that the new council has insufficient funds to run the condo this year. Interesting. This was local politics gone wild, with one rogue council member spreading misinformation and rallying his troops. We had booing, verbal abuse and a lot of angry voices. After 8 and a half years here, I finally came to properly understand the local political mentality. And it wasn't pretty. Lesson learned. As a result of no longer having this unpaid part time job, I forsee that

The twilight world of a ktv lounge

As Paul said. That's culture shock for you. What a fun way to spend a birthday eve!

Look what's new at West Coast park

Finally they fixed up our favourite playground and added swings...

My morning walk

Kent ridge Park looks so pretty in the early morning light. It's also fairly peaceful for Singapore. Brynn sleeping and girls are in school. A much appreciated q uiet morning of mummy time.

Labrador park

This morning we are exploring the WWII tunnels and gun emplacements at Labrador Park. Lots of interesting stuff up on this Hill.

My new mermaid from grandma

Knitted mermaids are a big hit. This one has even been given a dress!

Back from South Africa

We're back from an awesome trip to South Africa. It was great to catch up with family and friends, as well as seeing the natural beauty of my favourite country again. Jetlag is playing havoc with little Brynn (now 8.5 months). Hopefully we'll all be back to normal by the weekend. Paul has posted lots of photos of our trip to  www.paulandcaillie.com if you haven't seen them already. One notable aspect of our trip was the lack of Internet and cell phone coverage for the last three weeks. It was great to be 'off the grid' for a while.
